Visit from Kim & Jango!
This year, our Transition Year Young Social Innovators are campaigning to raise awareness and funding for the Irish Guide Dog Association. Guide dogs and Assistance dogs are a vital support for the people who require them and we want to help!
A representative Phil and service user Kim alongside her service dog, Jango, paid a visit to our school to briefly talk about what life is like for people with impaired vision.
Kim explained that she lost her sight five years ago and how isolated it felt to not know what was going on around her. All that changed when Jango was introduced into her life.
Jango allowed Kim to regain independence and stated how Jango not only changed her life, but saved it!
The Transition Year Young Social Innovators gained a lot of knowledge and understanding in how to help the visually impaired.
Our aim for this year is to run a series of fundraisers in our school to help support this great cause. Our first fundraiser is currently running, it is a 99k for Canine Challenge during the month of November. Students and Staff are welcome to take part.
Message from our YSI Team & Ms. Comerford.
