Our Senior Soccer team faced Colaiste Eanna from Rathfarnham today in the first round of the Senior Cup. Leicester Celtic’s Damian Duff Park in Rathfarnham was the venue for a very competitive clash.
The Monasterevin men started the stronger with an early opener inside 5 minutes and controlled much of the game for the opening 30 minutes. The hosts responded with an equaliser in the 35th minute which left the game finely poised. However St. Paul’s determined to take a lead into the break hit the front again with a quick counter attack on the stroke of half time.
When play resumed so did the determination of our lads. A long ball in behind unlocked the Rathfarnham defence and with Luke Gill through on goal the keeper was left with a decision to make which resulted in a St Paul’s free kick and an early shower for the Rathfarnham keeper.
Two superb Charlie White free kicks helped St Paul’s advance on a score line of St Paul’s Monasterevin 4-2 Colaiste Eanna. Well done to all involved
