St Paul’s Syrian students visit Kilkenny Castle
On Wednesday 25th January, our Syrian students visited Kilkenny Castle. They were accompanied on this trip by Ms. Comerford and a group of students from Maynooth Post-Primary with their teacher, Ms. English.
We were taken on a guided tour of the castle, where the students observed the interior of the structure and the lifestyle of the Butler Dynasty, who occupied the castle in 1391.
After our tour, we explored the streets of the city. Our Syrian students thoroughly enjoyed this as Kilkenny is a place full of Irish history and culture, being the oldest medieval city in all of Ireland.
This trip was a great opportunity for our Syrian students to link in with our friends from Maynooth. The students from Maynooth Post-Primary who accompanied us to Kilkenny were all Arabic and English speakers, some of whom are Syrian as well.
