LC IT Engineering Visit Carlow

St. Pauls Leaving Cert. Construction Studies students made their annual visit to a very beneficial revision course in Carlow I.T. on Friday 6th of May. The day was well organized by Carlow I.T. Engineering program director Brian Byrne. It was a great opportunity for students to get a feel for life as 3rd level students as they participated in lectures and labs while also mingling with the day-to-day running of the college.
St. Paul’s students participated in labs, where they got to use interesting and expensive equipment, such as a thermal imaging camera worth €15,000, a concrete stress testing machine worth in the region of €20,000 and they even got the rare opportunity of mixing some cement once they figured out how to use the shovel!! The day proved to be very enjoyable and beneficial in preparation for their leaving Cert examination and it gave students an excellent insight into what college life has to offer.
