Computer Science class visit to CCM and Insight Research Center, Galway
The Year 5 Computer Science class recently took a fascinating field trip to National University of Galway. Their first stop was Insight, research center for Data Analytics. The class gained valuable insights into the cutting edge of technology at research center. Researchers shared their work on image and video colorization (broad applicability beyond Computer Science), natural language processing, and other projects focused on societal and environmental benefits.
Students then visited the Computer and Communication Museum (CCM), where they had the opportunity to explore the history of computing and communications through the excellent interactive exhibits. The museum charts world but also Irish tech history, with Apple and Digital featuring strongly. Highly recommended!
Special thanks to Brendan Smith of CCM and Insight Center for Data Analytics for hosting us.
