Bodywhys: Be Body Positive 5th Year Talk

Thank you to Bodywhys: The Eating Disorders Association of Ireland for delivering their informative Be Body Positive programme to all 5th year students.
The content of the programme was devised based on the feedback of young people aged 15-18 and was obtained through focus groups. The programme content was as follows:
Understanding Eating Disorders:
- Information about the three most common types of eating disorders
- Understanding eating disorders and how they develop
- Potential physical & mental side effects of eating disorders
- Risk factors involved in developing an eating disorder
- Recovery supports & treatment options available
Body Image & Self Esteem:
- Discussion on body image & self-esteem
- The impact of media & social media on body image
- Challenging the pressures of the media & social media, school and the people around us when it comes to body image
- What young people can do to ‘Be Body Positive”
- What to do if worried about a friend or loved one
