5th LCA trip to Discovery Park, Castlecomer.
Report on Castlecomer by Cori Nolan
On Wednesday 9th December, our 5th year LCA class travelled with our teachers Ms Hogan
and Mr Fitzgerald to the Discovery Park in Castlecomer, Co. Kilkenny.
The first activity we took part in was building catapults. The class was divided into two teams.
We assembled our catapults using 2 metre and 4 metre logs and ropes. When we were finished
the teams went against each other team to see who could catapult a tennis ball the furthest.
After lunch we moved onto The Octagon. This is a high ropes course. Set on an octagonal
frame over two levels, this presents a series of challenges in the form of nets, ropes, wooden
bridges.
After the octagon we went straight to the zipline. This is the highest zipline in Ireland which is
roughly 115ft high and the same length as The Eiffel tower lying down.
The last activity of the day was orienteering. We had to go around the woods to find the codes
on the wooden posts.
Overall it was a great experience for all of us. I would highly recommend going as it is a brilliant
outdoor activity centre set in a beautiful location.
