The celebration commenced with a photograph exhibition displaying the progress of the students since they commenced in the programme in September 2014.  Programmes coordinator Paul Marron welcomed all to the celebration, including special guest Con Henry who was a teacher in the school for almost 40 years up until his retirement as principal in 2009. He commended the students referring to their many achievements and abilities and impressed on them the confidence that this should give them moving towards their Junior Certificate. He also thanked management, parents and staff for their continued support of JCSP programmes and activities in St. Paul’s Secondary School.

JCSP students Roisin Shallow and Oisin Keogh then proceeded to speak about their experiences as JCSP students in St. Paul’s, with all making reference to the benefits of improved learning opportunities towards their confidence going forward and having some great fun in the process.

Special guest Con Henry spoke about the importance of remaining in education and being ambitious and confident in their own abilities. He spoke about the difficulties that many students experienced in his lifetime in education and how students invariably found their strengths and intelligences, to go on and live successful lives. He also congratulated the students on their achievements, wishing them luck in their forthcoming Junior Certificate Examination.

Mary Mullally, Deputy Principal congratulated the students on their achievements to date and thanked parents, staff and management for their continuing support.

Profile folders were then presented to the students by Con Henry and refreshments were served to all by 2nd year JCSP students Rachel O’Connell and Sophie Carroll, who no doubt are looking forward to their celebration in 12 months’ time. Sr. Angela Cushen supervised the serving of refreshments in her usual professional and friendly manner.

Well done to all.
