Green Schools News: “Green Awareness Day”!!

The green schools committee held a “green awareness day” on Thursday 5th Feb. Events on the day included: A rag day for the whole school, where pupils and staff were encouraged to wear an item of green clothing to support our campaign. There was a talk arranged for all 1st year pupils about recycling, and the important job each pupil has in keeping the school clean and litter free. There was a 2nd year table quiz that aimed to help raise awareness around green issues in the school, home and the wider environment.. “2nd year pupils also took part in a green debate, while 1st year C.S.P.E pupils worked on a stewardship project. 5th year pupils will also have a junk art workshop in the next few weeks. A great day was had by all, and the committee wishes to thank everyone for their co-operation on the day!!

Upcomming Events: Darragh Weir from the Kildare County Council will be a guest speaker at the next green schools committee meeting. Eoin Morton from “Neat Streets” will also be working with the committee to help with our Spring Clean – Due to take place in early April.
