Adult Education – Parent’s Nutrition Course

ad ed 1 We are running a six week healthy cooking and nutrition course on Thursday nights in our Home Economics room. We have an excellent instructor Arwen Sheridan who week by week instructs our participants with regard to cooking a main meal and a side dish or dessert etc from scratch with fresh ingredients. McConville’s Super Valu Monasterevin have been a great support to this endeavour and have generously sponsored the ingredients for this course. Week one featured Beef Stroganoff and Breakfast Frittatas. Recipes are available on the school website for parents who want to try the dishes for themselves.

The dishes for the next five evenings are as follows:
Week Two: Ham and Mushroom Pasta Bake and Strawberry Cheesecake Muffins;
Week Three: Home made Hot Chicken Roll and Banana Bread;
Week Four: Hake with Pesto and Roast Veg and Syrniki;
Week Five: Shepherd’s Pie and M&M Cookies and
Week Six: Quiche and Salmon Potato Cakes.
Recipes will be posted online after each week for parents to try themselves at home.
The instructor has her own YouTube channel, search for ArwenLouise, and she has helpful videos for a wide variety of healthy and nutritious family meals.
